Hello everyone. I'm struggling few months now. I have stomach issues and had an endoscopy 3years ago. 4months now I have pain when I swallow witch was really bad at the beginning and huge pain in my chest. I got to the doc and told me that there's no need for another endoscopy and gave me prescription that helped a lot. But sometimes I still have pain when I eat or when I drink after the food. Sharp pain. I'm so afraid. Should I insist for another endoscopy? How many months can I have this and not get diagnosed? Doc told me that if this continues he will give me meds for my anxiety. But I'm in pain. And so afraid. I don't know what to do. I read that if you have symptoms it will show soon if it's cancer. But I'm like I don't know what to do.
Hi Elli M.
Please insist on an endoscopy. Something isn't right. My partner’s routine check up endoscopy was missed for barretts syndrome. When he did finally get one he had cancer. If it had been caught earlier he may not have needed the major operation and may still be here. I don't mean to frighten you but it sounds like further investigation is needed. Don't be fobbed off. Good luck
Hi Elli M I agree with PBD7 ..Insist your GP refers you for an endoscopy ..It may be nothing but it’s better to have it checked out thoroughly ..My husband was fobbed off with antacids for two months before we insisted he was referred to the hospital for further tests ..I’m not saying yours is OC ..You have symptoms which aren’t normal to you so it needs to be checked out asap …
Good Luck

Hi ..My husband had no pain at all ..he just struggled to swallow and regurgitation…I know it’s hard but try not to worry as it just makes matters worse ..It may not be what you think it is .Keep an open mind and have it checked out thoroughly as soon as possible ..Hope all goes well

Both of my doctors insisted that I take 3 weeks medicine again and I will let them know. I started taking the pill day and night and I'm feeling better. 3 day now I hadn't pain but today I ate a little in a hurry and I felt a little pain. I will keep a journal of my pain and let them know. They say I'm experiencing oesophageal spasms. If I don't feel better they will give me a medicine that has also calming results. Both of them say that I did endoscopy 2,5 years ago and there is no need for a new one. What should I do? I don't know. My endoscopy was clear not even signs of something. So what is that now? Is it possible to get cancer in that amount of time? I'm so scared. Why I still hurt?
Hi .Well I would look at it as two DRs have both diagnosed you with oesophageal spasms ..So I would take the meds they’ve prescribed and follow all the advice they have given you .If matters don’t improve in three weeks time go back to your GP as they’ve requested …Not everything connected with oesophagus pain etc is cancer related so try not to be too anxious about it as maybe your anxiousness is making it worse …I’m sure if your symptoms persist your GP will sort out any relevant tests to find out what’s going on ..
regards J
