Hi Guys
Just wanted to drop a line on here just to keep in touch with the group.
I've now completed cycle 3 and just had my blood tests for cycle 4. So far the treatment has been smooth sailing. I had a very low heart rate on cycle 1 but got reassurance from a cardiologist that everything was okay with the heart and they've just put me on asprin and statins as a precaution.
So the message here is one of cautious optimism. Chemo and immunotherapy can be easier than predicted. My mid point PET CT was very encouraging with good reductions in the nodes. I'm getting the usual fatigue and chemo brain but it's manageable and you can tough through fatigue and still have fun when the sun's shining.
I'm optimistic about the next 3 cycles and am looking forward to completing the treatment in a couple of months and hopefully getting into a prolonged remission. I know it's a lifelong illness and that I'll always be looking over my shoulder for infections etc but today as I sit here preparing for cycle 4 the world is not as scary a place as it was 6 months ago. If you're embarking on this journey, keep your head up and enjoy the fun moments that come along the way!
Cheers, Cormac
Oh this is great…… go sit ‘at the Table’…. you will know what I mean once you have been
Great to hear that. I am halfway through maintenance and was sailing through after No 6 therapy got COVID (never had it before) and it was not nice at all, and my last treatment was cancelled until this week. l thought oh no, here we go, but here I am fit again fit and back to near normal ready for treatment 7. I also got good news yesterday, my results showed complete remission, and at end of my maintenance another scan will determine. Yes, enjoy the fun moments, and halfway through anything is a complete relief in these kind of treatments. Keep doing well, and let us know how you are doing.
Good morning Glann …… good to hear your maintenance is going well… bummer about developing Covid but good that you are over this bump in the read.
I have had covid 3 times and fir me it was no worse bad ‘man flu’ for a few days……. I never needed any antiviral.
Keep on keeping on
Hi Mike....I was 9 weeks trying to get better! Flu like symptoms all the time..felt I was never going to get better.
Wish I had the antiviral...I was offered it.but at the time thought I would be ok! At clinic now waiting for my poison..but there appears to be some kind of flap going on with my records....oh well onwards so they say...hope all the family is well up North and the sun is shining and warm down here.! Will touch base again on here. A great source of support
I am doing great and yes the sun is even showing its face up North.
Hope you get your poison infusion over and done with and escape- have a great weekend.
