Hello everyone. My husband was diagnosed with FL two weeks ago. He had an extremely bloated tummy and put on almost 2 stone. He has been taking Prednisolone for almost a week and its gradually going.
He is due to start O-CVP on Tuesday. We have no idea what to expect. The consultant said his hair probably won’t fall out. Was wondering how he can prepare for the treatment and how he is likely to feel after. He has been advised to drinking plenty of water. TIA xx
Hi Tonia.
I can't really give you any advice but my situation is similar to yours. My Husband was diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma a while ago and has been on watch & wait. He starts O-CVP tomorrow. I hope you Husband gets on OK. Keep in touch. Kind regards Bernice
Hi and welcome to this little corner of the Community.
This is the second time O-CVP has been mentioned in a few days (hit the discussions tab to see other posts)
The fact that he has been told he won’t lidless his hair tells me that this will not be as toxic as many of the others treatments....... my hair was like snow on a warm day.
Drinking lost of water is very important as this will flush out the toxins released by the chemo and will protect his kidneys.
Fatigue may creep in over time but keeping some activity going actually helps a lot.
Avoiding Infections will be important as chemo will reduce his immune system for a period of time.
Always around to listen and help out.
Lol, I was going to tag you Bernice. You have now someone to compare notes with.
Thank you. I have read a few posts here and everyone is really helpful and friendly. xx
Hi. Thanks for the reply. Will be good to compare notes. Hope all goes well tomorrow xx
Hi Tonia,
My Husband has his first round of O-CVP today and touch wood so far so good. He was there from 9.00am to 5.00pm. He has a slightly fuzzy head this evening but other than that he's fine. Hopefully as the days progress he will stay well. I'll keep you up to date.
Kind regards
Bernice
Hi Bernice
Just wondering how your husband is feeling now? Hope everything is ok xx
Hi Tonia,
I'm very pleased to say that my Husband has suffered little to no side effects. He has carried on doing everything he normally does. The only thing he's noticed is very slight constipation & a few nights where he felt wide awake & couldn't sleep but that has now resolved. He is due to go back tomorrow for an antibody top up but unless the side effects are cumulative he's got away very lightly.
When does your Husband start treatment or has he already?
Kind regards
Bernice
