2017 had Biological targeted therapy (chemo that does not destroy all cells only targets the the bad cells that was in 7 lymph nodes in lower abdominal area. It went away however returned again slowly same area. So Week ago booked in for Chemo by Haematologist so I just had my 1st session of R CHOP last week Jan 30th 2020, its 1st Feb today and i am sure my tastes buds are warping out already so did every one experience that so quickly? Also at end of the sessions i think i may be going to Royal Marsden Hosp for last two sessions!! to mash the bad cells. i need to ask again with the haematologist as at time everything was happening so fast. Also nice i scanned though the thread post and thanks for all the handy tips n info. , thanks in advance ,
Peter
Hi Peter and welcome to the Community.
A note book and someone with you taking notes can help a lot, you can also ask if you can record your appointments.
Everyone can react differently but yes, your taste buds can get shot very quickly...... sucking a rust coin comes to mind.......My taste buds went very quickly
Try eating strong flavoured food as this can help....... strong curries worked for me until my stomach could not take it.
The main things I snacked on chilly flavoured crisps and lots and lots of fresh (not tinned) pineapple and melon.
Drink lots of water (2-3 Lt a day) helped this as well as flush out your kidneys.
Well done getting your profile done as this helps
Thanks Mike i will check out chilli flavoured stuff & strong curries , do home made stuff . I get some pineapple and melon as well. I have been caining 2 Lt bottle full of water in one go with a break between bottle flushes , slightly tedious however essential , so 3 Lt ok i got room for that to flush more
Hi, add to the above seasoned sausages and bacon which was often eaten on a lunchtime, in a sandwich. I also found tinned pineapple worked when I could not get fresh, it helps with the dry mouth if you experience that to. Homemade soups can get through to the taste buds to and simple foods like mince and mash worked for me as well.
