  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am so sorry to see the circumstance that brought you here and so sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma. And a special welcome all the way from Turkey.

I am Mike Thehighlander and I help out on the Community and I am pleased to say that you have found a very supportive community.

I was diagnosed 20 years ago with T-Cell Non Hodgkin's lymphoma and even although our type of NHL is different I do understand the journey you are on.

Please remember that we are not medical professionals and can only look at our own treatment journeys and you will find out that everyone goes on their own treatment route.

If your team are experienced and are experts in the fold of Follicular Lymphoma then your treatment plan may well be spot on for how your condition is presenting. My treatment was very long (Hit  to see it) but it did include 45 sessions of Radiotherapy and Rituximab as part of my main chemo treatment and it was very effective.

Don't get hung up on the stage numbers - I was stage 4 and this made no real difference. Blood cancers are nothing like solid tumour cancers so stage numbers just help your team get the correct treatment plan in place.

It would be good when you have the time it would be helpful if you could put some information about yourself and the journey that brought you to the Community into your profile as it really does help the Community members to help you and get to know you.

Click on your username and that will take you to your homepage. Look for ‘Edit my Profile’ click on it and start to tell us as much or as little about yourself as you want then click on save before closing the page.

We are always around to help out.

  • Hi Unsal!

Your treatment sounds similar to in UK.  I'm also on rituximab, but my lymphoma was at stage 4, bone marrow involved.  This meant radiotherapy wasn't an option for me because of the spread.   You are lucky that yours is localised and you will see from the information sections of this site that radiotherapy is used here too.

The doses and patterns of rituximab treatments seem to vary.  I guess doctors decide on the basis of the individual's needs and the extent of the lymphoma, but you can ask professional advisors on the Macmillan site for better information.  I'm just another patient, so I don't know much about this.  You are young and your doctors will want to make sure your lymphoma is in remission, stays in remission and doesn't return.  But we know that it can happen, so they may want to do checkups from time to time even after your treatment.

Best wishes for a speedy and comfortable recovery!

    C
