Have had s blood test as white cell count and lymphocytes have increased but not sure what is class as high in terms of numbers , can anyone help please. Thanks

  • Hi  and welcome to this corner of the Community although always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike  and I help out around our blood cancer groups.

I don’t have CLL but was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a rare incurable but treatable type of skin NHL Stage 4a and although my blood cancer ‘type’ is different I have a good understand of this journey.

I don’t know if high counts are a thing with CLL but low counts are always a problem in blood cancers - the normal ranges are:

White Blood Counts 4.0 to 10.0

    Lymphocytes            1.9 to 3.0

CLL and SLL are different forms of the same illness. They are often grouped together as a type of slow-growing (low-grade or indolent) non-Hodgkin lymphoma so do also check out Lymphoma Action, a small UK Lymphoma Specific Charity who have lots of information, videos and run regular regional online Lymphoma support groups and indeed a great Lymphoma Buddy Service.

    Always around to chat.
