  • Hi  and welcome to our group.

I’m sorry to read that you’ve been diagnosed with a rare type of cervical cancer, and appreciate it might be difficult to connect with others who have been treated for this. It’s harder to find people with the right experience when you have a rare sub type of cervical cancer-mine was adenocarcinoma, so one of the more common types.

I have seen your type of cancer mentioned in the group before, but not for a long time. If you want to have a look, please type mesonephric adenocarcinoma into the search bar (the magnifying glass at the top left of the page) and it will bring up any relevant posts.

Most of us with stage 2b cervical cancer, which I had on diagnosis, are not able to have a hysterectomy and instead undergo a treatment of chemoradiation without surgery so your situation is different given that you’ve already had your radical hysterectomy.

Your oncologist will be the best person to speak to, so I hope you’ll not  have too long to wait for your appointment, which I presume will give you the pathology results from what was removed during surgery. Normally those results will inform any future treatment plan. I had surgery for a recurrence of my cervical cancer, and it took around 3 weeks to get my results from that.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed that someone with the right type of experience to help you may come along and post, and that you’ll be able to update us after your oncology appointment. It’s very helpful for others to read, especially when the cancer is a rare one.

You are also welcome to phone the Macmillan nurses, who do not have access to your medical records but can give general advice, and the support telephone line is in my signature at the bottom of my reply here.
