Hi little background in 2024 I had High rate HPV and low grade cells. Had my first colposcopy Jan 2025 saw some cells said to have another smear but was missed on being ask for one which today the nurse was shocked and checking what happens with my discharge. Anyway I have since then had bleed after sex, very painful when having sex, lower back pains and UTIs with blood in urine on and off for 7/8 months my GP sent me straight back to gyne had a smear and colposcopy again she said there was more cells this time but still mild so she’s waiting on the smear results. I am obviously in my head a little bit wondering if anyone else has had this experiences or similar and what to expect?  I did over hear as the other nurse was talking to me that she’s was going to a biopsy anyway and they also used something to remove something by else so I don’t think that’s helped either as this time the screen was behind my head so I didn’t see the changes.

  • Hi  and welcome to our group.

I was hoping that someone with a similar experience would have come along to reply and I’m sorry you haven’t had a response yet. My reply will nudge your post back to the top of the discussion again, but I had a cancer diagnosis straight from my testing so was in a different situation.

You’ve said that a biopsy was done at your colposcopy so the results from that will confirm what’s going on. I hope you told the colposcopy staff about the symptoms you’ve been having as they would need investigating.

It’s  difficult when you’re in this waiting period for results but try not to overthink things for now while you haven’t got any results, although I know that’s hard.

Hopefully you will not have anything sinister going on, and it’s just a level of abnormal (pre cancerous) cells which have been identified and can be easily treated. If you do get a cancer diagnosis, there will be support here for you in the group, but please let us know how you get on when you have your results.

  • Hi Sarah

Thank you for your reply I appreciate this. I am trying so hard not to overthink (human nature gets the better of you at times) I did tell them what I’ve been experiencing the past year I even said I thought I was perimenopause at one point with some of my symptoms but it got ruled out. The scary thing is I’ve not experienced this I was the person who always had negative smears until 2024 so I was in complete shock (guess in this situation anyone would be) but I know I am lucky in the sense I am being checked and I have a great GP.

Thank you again for sharing I cannot image what you went through and just replying even though your experience has been different by far more serious than my worries I do whole heartedly appreciate you took the time and I know now that if I am diagnosed I definitely know where to come. Thank you again sorry I keep saying thank you xxx
