Hi everyone! I’m 28 years old and have been in remission for 2 years. I’m from a very small Caribbean country so resources for support is basically no ln existent and it can feel lonely when you don’t quite have people that can understand what you’re feeling or going through no matter how much they try or love you. I know I am way luckier than others but sometimes it also feels like the battle is never ending at the same time. I hope we can help each other in this group! I’m so very grateful to be here but sometimes it still weight heavy in my heart and I feel like I don’t know why.
Hi LadyLegendad05e3 and welcome to our group.
I hope you’ll find it helpful to be among people who do understand what it’s like to go through similar experiences and that you won’t feel so alone now you’ve joined us.
I see you have posted in another thread about how difficult radiotherapy was for you, and that you are still having lasting effects from treatment, so I’m sorry to read how this has affected you so much. Here in the UK when we sign consent to have treatment, we are given information on all the possible side effects we might get. Some of us have no side effects, and some of us have some of the ones you’ve mentioned. Are you getting help to deal with these?
You are very young to have gone through so much. Maybe you’d tike to tell us a little more so we might be able to help-what stage of cancer did you have, what treatments you have been through etc? If you’d like to update your profile it can be helpful to put information there so others can see at a glance what you’ve gone through.
To do this, click on your username and select “profile” to complete your details there. You can read other members’ profiles by clicking on their username if they have filled in their own information. It is useful for others, and will save you having to repeat yourself in posts when you’re looking for help.
I’m glad you’ve found us and joined the group-we are mostly from the UK as Macmillan is a UK based charity- so there will be a time difference which may affect when others can reply. However, you are welcome to post any time.
Sarah xx
