Hi, been lurking for 2 weeks, I seemingly keep coming back, so I thought I should make an account and join.

I'm awaiting a Colposcopy on Wednesday 17/09 as my smear came back HVP positive and servere dyskaryosis,  where hopefully they will have a look at a pigmented leison that I have noticed on my vulva. Im quite worried that I am riddled with cancer, but as I read somewhere on here before, if you haven't been told you have cancer, then you don't. So fingers crossed , 3 days i will have some more information and knowledge on what's happening.

  • Hi   and welcome to our group.

I'd say exactly the same thing-you only know you have cancer if it’s been formally diagnosed, so I hope your colposcopy will confirm that you have some level of dyskariosis and nothing more serious- although I appreciated you’ll be concerned until you get answers.

Please make sure that you mention before the colposcopy that you’ve noticed this pigmented area on your vulva. It may be unconnected but it will be best to have it checked out.

I hope you’ll come back and let us know how you get on, and good luck for Wednesday!

  • Thank you Sarah, and thank you for mentioning that as I wasn't sure if I was allowed as an appointment about the cervix, I will update once the appointment has been.

  • Yes, the colposcopy is looking at your cervix, but they should be looking at the whole of that area and if you mention it before they start, then you can highlight exactly where this lesion is.

I’ve not been in the same position, so I’m not sure if it would require another appointment to take any biopsies if that’s needed, or if that’s something which can be done at the colposcopy appointment. But everything will be explained to you before it starts.
