Hi, I LLETZ done today after suspected glandular neoplasm on smear results (hated every second and cried like a baby, ended up that anxious they had to give me gas and air )
Dr confirmed she could see precancerous cells and has sent off for a biopsy- what’s next? Should I be preparing for the worst, I’ve made myself sick I’m so terrified. Thanks

  • Hi

I’m sorry you found the procedure so tough today-I’m hope you’re feeling ok in yourself tonight.

The cells which have been removed will now be analysed at the lab, so you’ll have a wait for the results. Hopefully all the abnormal cells have been removed with clear margins (ie an amount of healthy tissue around them). If that’s the case this should be all the treatment you need and you’ll have what’s called a “test of cure” in 6 months time-just a check to make sure everything is ok.

If clear margins haven’t been achieved, you may need to have a further treatment. I didn’t prepare for the worst as I preferred to hope for the best, but I can appreciate there is always worry. around tests and treatment. You can’t change what the results will be, and worrying won’t change them no matter how much time you spend in a panic. Try not to fear the worst-things are rarely as bad as we think, and no matter what- there will always be a plan for you.

  • Thank you. I didn’t realise how hard something like this would be or how much it can impact.
    I really appreciate your reply!
