Hi,

Ive just joined this group, not quite sure what to say. I was diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer in 2023, I had chemo, radio and brachytherapy. Luckily I am in remission however I have now been told I have proctitis due to the radiation. I’m feeling quite alone and unsure as I’ve been told this and just left, does anyone else have the same?

  • Hi  and welcome to our group.

It’s good to read you have successfully got through your treatment but not so good you’ve been left with proctitis.

I don’t have any personal experience of this, but I’ve seen quite a few posts in the community about it as a late effect from pelvic radiotherapy for different cancers. I hope that other ladies in the group might come along to share their experiences with you. Have you had no suggestions at all as to anything which might help with the symptoms?

  • Hi,

    thankyou for replying.

no, I was simply told that’s what I have and then just left, it’s left me feeling quite emotional I tried to Google ( prob not the best idea ) but I can’t find anything xx

  • Hi

I have often recommended having a look at www.prd.org.uk which is the pelvic radiation disease association. There might be some useful information there. Google can be difficult in terms of inaccurate or out of date information but resources like the PDA might be more helpful.
