Hi , I was diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer on 21st March 2022, but then went for a knife cone biopsy and hysteroscopy on 29th April. I was due to go back for my results on 26th May but I’ve had a call today bringing my appointment forward to tomorrow. I’m so scared and nervous with them bringing it forward , any help or advice would be appreciated
Hi Claire
I know it can be worrying to bring an appointment forward, but maybe they had a cancellation and could fit you in sooner? In any case it will be better than waiting another week to know what’s happening. You need to know what the next steps are going to be, depending on the findings from the biopsy and hysteroscopy, but try not to assume anything in advance of the appointment.

The thing to remember is that there will be a treatment plan to deal with whatever the results may be, and worrying won’t change anything, although of course I know it’s really hard not to worry about things. I just learned along the way not to try and anticipate what was coming next, as I couldn’t change it.

Hi Claire
It’s good you are able to have the surgery as that will mean it’s not a more advanced cancer. Hopefully it will clear everything for you in one go! It’s scary going for an operation, but I’m sure you’ll be fine. Just take it easy with your recovery afterwards as it is a major surgery. Do you know when it will be happening?

That’s not too long to wait and then you can get on with your recovery.
