Hi there! I’m 40 yrs old and have had some gyno issues over the past year or so- painful cramps, irregular periods, bleeding mid cycle and bleeding after sex. Tbh i expected endometriosis and was referred to a menstrual clinic at my local hospital. I went last Sunday and had an exam at which the consultant told me she saw a mass at the neck of my cervix and she went ahead and took a couple of biopsies- which since I wasn’t expecting them, came as a bit of a shock! She told me she’s pretty certain she was looking at a fibroid, but of course I heard the words “biopsy” and “mass” and have gone into a whole doom spiral, especially with the speed she took them. I know I’m likely looking at a long wait before I hear anything back but I thought I’d come here and see if anyone has any similar experiences. You all seem so brave and kind and I hope all your journeys have happy outcomes.
Hello bobbycee and welcome to the group!
I haven’t had the same experience as you but wanted to say hello while you’re waiting for other replies. When I first saw my gynaecologist he used the word “lesion” and took biopsies, but didn’t say what he thought it was although I’m sure he knew! It’s better to be sure before saying anything I think.
The consultant just wants to be absolutely certain what she’s seeing is a fibroid, so it’s common practice to take biopsies as it’s the way to check, but I can understand it’s unsettling for you. It’s horrible waiting for the results, but try not to let your mind run away with itself if you can.
Did they give you any idea how long you would have to wait to hear? Some hospitals do seem to have longer backlogs than others, but hopefully it won’t be too long and you can be reassured it is just a fibroid.

Oh, the waiting is just horrible-for results of any tests. Try and keep busy if you can and keep distracted.
