  • Hello and welcome to the group.

I’m sorry to hear of your diagnosis and hope you can find plenty of support and encouragement here. It’s useful if you can add some information about yourself into your profile so that everyone can know where you are in the process and it saves you repeating yourself.

You haven’t said what stage your cancer is, so it makes it a little more difficult to advise you. Normally the first line of treatment when a hysterectomy isn’t possible is radiotherapy and chemotherapy combined.

Usually this would mean around 25 sessions of radiotherapy on weekdays over 5 weeks, with a weekly session of chemotherapy for this 5 weeks. Is this your plan?

The normal chemotherapy is a low dose of Cisplatin, which increases the effectiveness of the radiation and doesn’t make you lose your hair. Other forms of chemotherapy could result in hair loss so it depends what you are having.

You say you’ve had radiotherapy already but the two treatments are normally done together, and this is set out in your original treatment plan. How many sessions have you had?

Lots of us have been through this treatment, and brachytherapy which is internal radiation. Has this been mentioned to you at all?

If we know a little bit more about you it will be easier to help you based on our own experiences so I hope you will feel able to share a little bit more with us. If you click on your username you will be able to add information about yourself. And you can see information about others by clicking on their user name.

I hope you will find the group a supportive space where you can ask any questions at all and we will do our best to help.

    Sarah xx
