Hey guys, so on Monday I found out I had cervical cancer, Tuesday was my 34th birthday & yesterday I found out that it’s stage 3 & I’ve gotta have another scan to see if it’s spread to my lymph nodeSob I’m trying to be strong for my 3 kids (11,15 & 16) as I’m a single mum, but it’s so damn hard!! I’m currently sitting on the toilet, tap running bawling my eyes out so they can’t hear me Sob I’m so scared

  • Hi KaramelFudge and welcome to the group!

It is hard and very scary when you’re first diagnosed-fear of the unknown and our thoughts running riot make it so difficult initially, but I promise you that it will get better and you will be able to cope with this. You’ve gone from getting a diagnosis to where you are now very, very quickly and that’s a lot to process.

Once you have this next scan to determine any lymph node spread, all your results will be discussed at the multi disciplinary team by all the specialists involved in your care and you will get a treatment plan. Then you can focus better on dealing with this, because you’ll know what will be done. Treatment is tough but effective, and we have lots of positive stories here.

I know you will try to be strong for your kids-it’s our natural reaction as mums-but please accept that you can’t, and don’t have to be, strong all the time. It’s ok to wobble, to cry, be angry-all of that. Please keep in touch with us and we can help you through this-we have experience here of the treatments involved, so we know what it’s like to go through them, and we have ladies who’ve just started or about to start their treatment. You need never feel alone, and can ask any questions freely here. xx

  • Hi KaramelFudge and welcome.  I have just started my treatment this week for Stage 3 and they are treating to cure. I think I have two lymph nodes involved but I know how tough this journey is especially where you are now.  It is so hard to stay positive but I believe it's the best thing you can do for your health.  As Sarah says all these emotions are natural and it is the not knowing that is the worst.  I hope you don't have too long to wait before you get your results but my further scans didn't show up anything new.  We are all in this together and we are all here for you so keep us updated and ask anything xxx

  • Hi KaramelFudge

How are you feeling today? I see our lovely Snobird has been in touch and she will be able to help support you too as she’s just started her treatment this week. xxx
