I am new to the group. I found out 3 days ago that I have Cancer in my cervix and am now waiting for dates for CT and MRI to get a prognosis.
I had a clear smear in June 2020 and then got called for another Smear in September 2021. Following 2 biopsies they have told me I have cancer.
Is anyone else in this situation?
Hi Elly
Welcome. I, like you, am very new to this group. I have just received confirmation today that my biopsies showed cervical cancer. I am also now waiting for the MRI to see how far it has spread. I hope that because your smears are up to date things won't have progressed far. I stupidly got very behind on smears so I have no idea how bad things are.
Stay strong and positive. I will be thinking of you xx
Thank you so much for replying. I've had to change my name to Bushbaby21 on the chat, but it's still me Elly! Have you managed to get booked in for your CT and MRI scans yet? I have a 4 week wait minimum at Telford PRH. I hope and pray you will get some good news soon. xx
Hi Elly/Bushbaby! I have not yet received a date for my MRI. They said it would take a week-ish to get my appointment and then 7 - 10 days to get the results. I hope this is the case because four weeks seems like a long time. Try to stay positive and make the most of this downtime. I really hope you don't have to wait that long but let me know how you get on please. I will also keep you updated. Thanks and stay strong xxx
I am in North Yorkshire. Where are you? Good luck with everything and do keep us posted! xxx
Hi Bushbaby and welcome to the group, where I hope you’ll find lots of advice and support as you go through this.
I’m not in the same situation as you, as I was diagnosed first more than 3 years ago, but I well remember how it felt to be diagnosed, and I’ve been through treatment and surgeries. Waiting for scans and results is difficult, but things do become better once you know what you’re dealing with and have a plan of action. Please feel free to ask any questions and those of us who have been through this before you should be able to help. xx
Hi Bushbaby
Shropshire is a lovely part of the country. I love it there! I will be thinking of you, stay strong and positive. Hope you get to the next part very soon xxx
