Hi all.
my treatment finished in February. I have a pet scan coming up on 3rd may and then a pelvic mri scan on 16th may.
I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer and received 25 radio, 3 chemo and 2 brachytherapy.
I am feeling ok however feeling terrified for my scans and the results.
The consultant seemed confident the treatment is curative but I’m just so so scared
Hi She111
Good to hear from you!
Scanxiety is a very real thing-I don’t know anyone who isn’t anxious around that time and the wait for results.
Fingers crossed that everything goes well, and hope you’ll let us know how you get on.

Hi She111
I’m feeling fine thank you. I had to have a CT scan a couple of months ago after an emergency hospital admission and I was so anxious about it I was actually in tears. I have ptsd and it unfortunately specifically relates to any type of scan.
it took ages for me to even get from the corridor into the scanner room and a lot of persuasion but eventually I did it and luckily because I was in A&E I had the results within a couple of hours. The fear is always that it will be the cancer back, especially since that has been the case for me in the past, but it wasn’t cancer this time.
So I understand the fear very well, and it’s absolutely horrible. I hope your scans give positive news that the treatment has worked and you can relax again.
Sarah xx
