Hi,
I am looking for any advice on my current situation. I have been diagnosed with cervical cancer stage 1 1b from biopsy results. This has been one of the worse times of my life. My mum passed away from kidney cancer(metastasis) just 6 months ago and I watched her suffer before she passed and now receiving this news has completely broke me. I have stupidly never had a smear and I am currently 35 and now feel so much shame and kicking myself. Smear came back high grade severe dyskaryosis. After going for a colposcopy I had the lletz procedure done where they removed a large area for biopsy. They said the area of abnormal cells was large over my cervix and I had to go back to have the rest under general at a later stage. 2 weeks later I was called into a meeting and knew it wasnt good news. They said I have cervical cancer. I cried and broke down. I asked what the staging was and was told it was stage at 1 1b. I have to now wait for an MRI within 2 weeks and discuss results in 2 weeks. They said It would likely be a hysterectomy or radiotherapy for my treatment. I am now so worried and scared as I have had symptoms of constant back ache. Also feeling nausea when I wake up in the mornings. I am scared that these symptoms means the cancer has spread and worried that the MRI will show it has spread. Does anyone have any advice on this and if they tell you its stage 1 1b at biopsy, would this be accurate or would it be different from the MRI results? Please can anyone help
Thanks
Suzanne
Hi sbeee how did your MRI go? Hope everything went ok. I just wanted to let you know I have had my operation and I am home now. I had a laparoscopic radical hysterectomy keeping my ovaries and had some lymph nodes also removed. Pain has been managed by painkillers as I am finding it difficult to cope with the stomach pains at the moment but hoping it will get better. Just need to wait for the biopsy results and hoping for an all clear.
I am having numbness around my groin area and upper thigh and wondering if I have nerve damage from the removal of my pelvis lymph nodes and wondering if anyone has had this experience after surgery and if the nerves repair themselves as I am quite worried about it ?
Thanks
Suzanne
Hi Suzanne
i fully understand how you feel and there's no point saying don't worry cos you will it's awful news and you are always looking for answers. I had cervical cancer with the sameness grade as you but I was given my grade after my hysterectomy. I worried my self sick for weeks the waiting is the worse thing, I had a full hysterectomy chemotherapy and radio therapy. Last month I had my 5 year check and I'm all good so please if this only gives you a little bit of hope then iv done my job. I will say this isn't the worst time of all you have so many questions not enough answers and it's a waiting game
hope everything soon gets better for you
Hey Lovely
I hope you have a very speedy recovery from your operation. You must be so relieved to have it over and done with. Take your time and be gentle on yourself while you recover ️
i was staged as a 2b as it has just started to grow into the fat behind my vagina. No hysterectomy for me. I was a bit gutted about that and it knocked me for 6.
6 chemo 28 Radio and 3 Brachy
Still haven’t started treatment yet but have my Radiotherapy tattoos in place. PET CT to check Lymph nodes today. So keep them all crossed
stay well xx
