I had external and then brachytherapy for cervical cancer . I finished year a go . I mentioned to my docs that I had leakage from back passage like mucus etc . I was told it should clear up . Year on it did clear up but now it’s got worse . I have no pain just this horrid leakage of mucus and sometimes poo without knowing . Has anyone else who’s had any radiotherapy in cervical area had this problem ? . I am having to wear pads everyday just incase . This is quite sole destroying and unpleasant
Hi Val
Oh, this sounds very unpleasant for you and I’m sorry you’re experiencing it so long after treatment ended.
It’s not something I can remember seeing coming up before in the group, but maybe someone who’s had the same will see your post and respond. Maybe it’s just an effect from the radiotherapy-sometimes these things can start or go on long after treatment finishes. However, if you have one of your regular follow up appointments scheduled soon I’d be mentioning it and saying how it’s impacting on your life. Such a shame to have this since you’ve done so well after treatment.

Hi I had the same issue but did it did improve. However I am now 2 yrs on and the passing of wind can sometimes be mucus..I find that one loperimide a day helps. If its worse I would definitely mention it to the team.
It is very embarrassing. My family and friends are used to me just going to the loo to pass wind just in case as I dont know what is coming out. I carry spare underwear too.
I hope your symptoms improve soon.
