Six months after end of treatment. Still bleeding.

Hello, i am interested in peoples experiences post treatment.

I finished 7 weeks of radiotherapy in May 2025 (stage 1B).  I did start using vaginal estrogen cream and a dilator post traetment and that has helped immensely.  I do not use it as regularly as I should.

I still see tiny amount of blood on the top of the dilator so i feel like it is taking a long time to heal.  Outside of this i have no spotting but just recently I have seen pink on my tissue after going to the toilet.  This has only happened twice and within the last 3 weeks.

I have recently taken up going to the gym (4 weeks ago) and I wondered it that could be part of the reason.

I have another check up at the end of the month including a CT scan so feel nervous about recurrence.

I am interested in other people's stories and whether they have experienced the same thing.

I am not experiencing any pain or discomfort.

Thanks so much

  • Hi

It can be very worrying when we see any form of bleeding post treatment, so I can understand it would feel concerning. I did have some bleeding some months after treatment when using the dilators and it also panicked me at the time.

However, there can be non sinister reasons for this, especially if you are not using the dilators regularly. Scar tissue can build up inside you, and it can cause a little bleeding when you use the dilators to break this up. I was told to use the dilators regularly and to continue to do this to help keep the area open and make future internal examinations easier to do.

However, any instances of bleeding should be investigated, so it’s good that you are having a check up soon. Make sure that you mention this and that an internal examination forms part of the check up. Hopefully that will give you some reassurance.
