So i had a LLETZ and then was called back in to see the gyno to be told adenocarcinoma and he thought 1b1 so probably a hysterectomy x sent for an mri which i had 10 days ago and was told those results would go to gybae oncology team at a bigger hospital and they would then arrange for me to meet with them to give me my results and discuss the treatment plan x so todsy i got a call from the original hospital to ask if i could go back in to see the original gyno not the gynae oncologist, so i am really confused! even if my results were worse and a higher stage wouldnt that still come from the gynae oncology tram? why would they give me an extra appt for this, its the NHS after all! she said if i couldnt go in tomorrow then it would be 2 weeks as he’s on holiday but i would have expected to see the other team by then? x i am so stressed and worried about what this means!! anyone had something similar?
Hi Seffie,
I understand, it’s natural for us to question is it enough. I think they just try to be as least invasive with treatment as possible so why they will want to try the second LLETZ first.
Mine has been staged 1A2-1B1 but has been done twice now so hoping the surgery will be enough as well xxx
So just an update x i got a letter yesterday saying the 2nd LLETZ showed no signs of carcinoma and no residual carcinoma so i predume that means clear margins? it mentioned something about wart virus cell changes but i think thats ok? i have now been referred to see the MDT to discuss treatment going forward so waiting for an appt x i am expecting them to recommend a hysterectomy but not sure which kind yet x i’m pleased its clear margins but as its adeno am still worried about skip ledions/lymph node involvement etc but jyst trying to take it one step at a time x
Thanks for the update Seffie
It’s good news that everything has been removed, but it’s standard for the mdt to discuss your results to decide the way forward. You mentioned wart virus cell changes-there are many different types of hpv strains, and the strains which cause warts are different to the strains which can cause cancer, so it may be that you have more than one train of hpv in your system.
I can understand your concern about skip lesions, so it may be that the mdt will recommend a hysterectomy for you. Hopefully you will hear soon and know what the way forward will be. Let us know how you get on when you can.

Thanks Sarah, yes i thought that probably meant other hpv strains, not a nice thought tho! trying not to stress about things and just go with the flow x bit confused as one letter said the cells were moderately differentiated but then the next one said well differentiated so is it possible to have a mix of both? doing what i can to be healthy but also not doing it obsessively as that just creates more stress! Thanks Sarah, hope you’re doing well x
Yes, it is possible to have a mix of cells identified, but the main positive is that everything has been removed. I’m well thank you, and you’re doing all the right things, so everything should hopefully be fine for you. Stress is to be avoided as best you can.

Hi all so just another update x i got an appt to see the consultant today, said they want to do a radical hysterectomy and hopefully thats all I’ll need x she was lovely and went through everything though there were no surprises as I have researched alot x so it’ll be in 6-7 weeks, of course I am very nervous but people are having surgery all the time so i have to be a big girl about it!! she said my cells were 1B grade 1 so i hope thats fairly good news x my son lives away and has to work this xmas so we were plsnning on spending it with him and i got upset talking about it as i was worried in case they called me in if they had a cancellation but she said it’s fine to leave it until after xmas which is a big relief so hopefully we can enjoy a break in Cornwall for xmas! so no idea why the original gynae said he would see me in 6 months but at least i’ll be having the correct treatment for this x i am working on my fitness and healthy lifestyle to help prep for surgery but i am happy to hear any advice/tips you might have x thanks for support as always x
Hello Seffie
Thanks for your update. It is always interesting to find out how ladies are getting on.
It's good you have a treatment plan, I did think the standard treatment for stage 1 Adenocarcinoma was a Radical Hysterectomy so was puzzled by what you were previously told.
I had stage 1B2 Adenocarcinoma and the cells were described as Grade 1 after the surgery pathology result.
I wish you well with your surgery, enjoy Christmas with your family. If you think of any questions about the operation feel free to post and I will try to help if I can. I had my operation end of Dec 2023 and have check ups every 3 months

hi Serena thanks for your message x i knew i would have to have some kind of hysterectomy so it wasnt a surprise but abit confused re the gyno’s original plan x i would be grateful for any advice re the hysterectomy, people keep telling me what a major op it is which i know but its not reslly helpful x we are a similar age i think so its helpful to hear how you got on x i’m still processing it all tbh and still cant quite believe this is all happening, just trying to take it one day at a time and live as normally as possible but life is different and a little surreal! x thanks Serena x
