Hi I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in April last year had a radical hysterectomy on the 25th may then I had 5 rounds of chemo and 25 rounds of radiation that finished on 26th August 2022! I had little or no side effects from my treatment however 8 weeks later iam unable to pass wind or poo I can go 8 days without pooing and then I projectile vomit and had diarrhea!! My stomach lining is also inflamed and when I eat it takes hours for the food to digest! Iam on a low residue diet and laxatives as I need another MRI scan to confirm the bowel tightening/narrowing! My question is how can I get the wind/gas out quick as it actually kills my stomach and back and what's the best remidies to help any help would be appreciated.thanks in advance
Hi Smalice100
I’m sorry to read you are suffering from these uncomfortable symptoms so far out from your treatment. I can’t share any advice unfortunately as I’ve not suffered from the same issues, but replying will put your post back to the top of the discussions, and hopefully someone else may chime in with some advice. Is your doctor not offering any help for you? Have you got an appointment yet for your mri? Hopefully it will shed some light and you’ll be able to get some relief.
Sarah xx
Hi Sarah thank you for your reply and yes I've seen umpteen doctors in the last 16 weeks spent 8 days in hospital and had dye to swallow so they could see if it went through but it took 19 hours to pass through the bowel so they just kept me on nil by mouth for 5 days! I was at my oncologist on the 18th January and she's the one that said I need the MRI so nothing through yet hopefully this coming week! It's the wind/gas it's so painful and it takes so long to get relief I've tried almost everything and nothing works! No matter what I eat I suffer terrible pains after smashing my cancer I was so happy and now I have this ave never been so miserable in my life xx
Oh, it certainly does sound really miserable to be living with this and being nil by mouth for so long must have been horrible. I don’t get this type of thing now since my bowel has been removed, but bowel issues can be a real problem after treatment for some and you seem to have been very unlucky in suffering so badly.
I hope you don’t have long to wait for your mri and they can do something to help you.
Sarah xx
