Hi all,
I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in July and finished my chemo radiation treatment a few weeks ago. At my pet scan in July, I was told there was low uptake in my bowel, the caecum area. My oncologist asked for advice from a bowel specialist who said that occasionally abnormalities show up in the bowel on a pet scan and since it didn’t show up on my CT scan it’s unlikely to be cancer. He recommended that I have a colonoscopy after my treatment to double check which I’m having done this week. Does anyone know, if it’s not cancerous what it could be? I can’t find any info about this online. Thank you.
Hi Joix21 and a very warm welcome to the online community
That's great to read that you've finished your treatment for cervical cancer and that the abnormality that's been seen on the PET scan is unlikely to be cancer. However, I can totally understand why you'd like to know what it is likely to be.
I can't help with your question but I noticed that no one from this group had replied yet. It's possibly because no one has had this experience or just that they haven't seen your post yet. Replying to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list.
It might be an idea to join and post your question in the bowel cancer group as most people there will have had a colonoscopy and some might have been told the same as you and can tell you what their abnormality was. If this is something that you'd like to do clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there where you can join and post in the same way as you did here.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Do come back and let us know the outcome after your colonoscopy and I'll be keeping everything crossed.
x
