Hi there,
I was diagnosed de novo breast with a spread to my bones in December. Overall I'm doing well, some ups and downs but still on my first line of treatment of ribioclib & letrozole. I also try some complementary therapies when I can afford them like reflexology. The one area I do think I struggle with is my diet. I do eat good food, but I also eat junk food and have strong sugar cravings especially with menapause. I follow some fellow people living with cancer and diet seems to be important. How do others feel about this?
Hi Dee2025
I am sorry you are living with secondary breast cancer. I think it’s important to get good nutrition but I wouldn’t worry too much overall. With menopause and oestrogen blockers on top of a stage 4 diagnosis, you have a lot to deal with. Sometimes it’s important to just do what we can to enjoy things. There’s no truth to the thing about sugar feeding cancer. Sugar provides energy, and all cells need energy to grow. So don’t worry if you like a few sweet things, just make sure you are also getting the range of nutrients your body needs.
The attached fact sheet on diet and cancer might help.
