Fatigue

I haven’t experienced brain secondaries nor have I had capecitabine but just wanted to reach out. Your wife’s / your situation sounds really difficult. I do hope the radiotherapy after effects settle soon. 

I have breast cancer that spread to the brain, and am taking capecetibine tablets,

The radiotherapy i found was worse than the actual chemo, I was constantly tired and dizzy on standing,

The fatigue does get easier with time, although I had surgery which has now left me in a wheelchair,  ive had 29 cycles so far of the capecetibine and it hasn't spread any further luckily, 

Good luck to your wife, remind her to take the tablets for side affects because they do work, keep hydrated, and try to keep eating, I suffer at breakfast as I'm never hungry, but the doctor has prescribed me fortisips to have with my medication, as it lines the stomach. 

Tell her to get some good moisturiser for her hands and feet, as it didn't effect me for a while but a side effect of capecetibine is redness, and dryness,  and it got me in the end!!

Can I ask what strength of chemo tabs are you on , my feet are really bad can only just walk now . I am on 2600 mgs a day 

Hi I'm on 1800mg, I still get redness, but the oncologist prescribed me some b6 vitamins it helps with the burning etc

THanks very much! We have the capecetibine tablets but my wife was unsure about taking them at all given the problems that she's been having. I honestly think that she has overdosed with the steroids and I believe that has caused a lot of the recent problems. At one stage I am certain that she was taking 32mg of Dexamethasone instead of 16mg. (I think its related to them being incorrectly dispensed from the chemist??) Anyway she is weaning off and seems to be a lot better today and shes on 1mg from tomorrow. She walked to the bathroom without a zimmer frame which is a big step forward. Hopefully she continues to go from strength to strength and can be discharged from the hospital before the weekend...

Yes steroids can be awful on larger doses, they made me dizzy and off balance all the time!! 

Fortunately she won't be on them long term, it helps with the swelling from the radiotherapy, 

Thank you , is that 1800mgs a day ? I think it will help me to drop the dose
