This is my second fight. I had primary breast cancer 21 years ago. It’s now come back for another go. It’s secondary oestrogen positive that’s decided to take a detour to my brain. I remain positive! I hope I can be of help and support to others with primary and or metz.
Thank you for reading. You are stronger than you know
Hello Dogsquad
Welcome to the Secondary Breast cancer forum.
I am sorry to hear that your cancer has returned after such a long time and I can only imagine how tough this is. I hope that you have family and friends to support and a good team at your hospital. I found that can make a big difference.
I am one of the Community Champions and my own cancer was endometrial so I hope you do not mind me responding. Hopefully by doing so it will bump your post and someone with similar experiences will see it and respond.
I know through my own cancer and treatments it did help to try to remain positive whilst also accepting there would be down times. Please do give the Support Line a call if you feel like you need to talk things through with someone. They are there from 8am - 8pm daily.
I will pop a link here to some Macmillan info as I know through my own cancer, that it helps to be able to get some reliable information. It also helped me to have an idea about treatments etc before meeting my oncologist so that I could have a think about what to ask.

Hi. I’ve just been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer after 25 yrs clear, diagnosed after breathlessness , now in my spine.
I go tomorrow to meet Oncologist for the first time & agree my treatment plan . I have to try to be strong & optimistic , the alternative is unthinkable . But yes, I’m frightened , angry … all those things .
May I suggest 2 fabulous resources :
1. Facebook - Make2ndscount , a wonderful community of supportive women , all living with secondary breast cancer .
2. Penny Brohn - a cancer support organisation offering lots of information & online support to help us with physical & mental support .
Good luck !
Sue
I had breast cancer and it has gone straight to my brain, but my body is clear,
I've had 2 craniotomys but it grew back, it's now being controlled by drugs, I was on kadcyla intravenous for about 6/8 months,
Now I'm on my 15th cycle of capecitibine, tucibinab and perception injection, I'm surprised to be feeling ok, although slightly dizzy,
Remain positive and stay strong xx
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
