Hi in 2017 I had breast cancer I lost my left breast and coped relatively well with that and all my treatment... 5 weeks ago I had a biopsy done of my left eye orbit and was told 2 weeks later that I have metastic breast cancer... (Seems weird saying to people I have breast cancer in my eye) I'm yet to find out what treatment I have to have or when it starts... I called oncology department and explained the situation and asked what was going on as I'm worried this horrid cancer will start to affect my optic nerve and possibly lose my sight only to be told the woman doing appointments was on holiday for a fortnight and she will be in touch when she gets back.... How can they do this... I mean not have anyone to fill her shoes while she was on holiday... I'm in turmoil I don't know what's going on I'm stressing more now than I did the first time round I just feel no one cares....
That is shocking, no wonder your reeling from it. You could try to contact the breast cancer nurses at your hospital or phone macmillan where you can speak to a clinical nurse, if they can't answer your questions they will probably have a good idea who can. I hope you get some answers and support soon. X
Oh my goodness Sazzsazza,
That is completely unacceptable. You poor thing. I agree with the other comments here to contact someone else. I would like to think that your GP would be dutybound to follow this up for you and find out more information. It is disgraceful to put you under more pressure than you are already under. I keep phoning departments myself now as I think you have to be “pushy” for anybody to listen. I had to chase up my last bone scan after almost three weeks of hearing nothing to be told that I now need an urgent MRI. I am getting quite angry that they don’t seem to be in any sort of rush to help us. I wondered how long it would have taken for them to get back to me if I hadn’t of contacted them?
