Anyone had radiotherapy (5 shots) to relieve pain from mets in shoulder and neck? How did you get on? Did it work?
Well wasn't expecting that reaction!. Had my single dose of radio at lunch time. Went home, had a codeine tablet and back to normal dose of paracetamol around 2.pm fell asleep and woke up around 5pm with sore neck glands, dry mouth and feeling really tired. Hope it gets better as quickly as it arrived. Will start on oxycodone in the morning.Must remember to drink loads of water.
TheaT. I asked when I got there why they changed from 5 doses to a single dose and apparently it was purely to do with the distance I had to travel. I got exactly the same total dose with only one trip to the hospital.Emotionally not in rhe best place but will hopefully feel better if the pain can be controlled.
Hi all
If the one dose is the equivalent of 5 normal doses that might be the reason for the pain. I had paracetamol as I can’t take codeine but had to get strong Naproxen from my GP.
I had 5 doses on my breast last year but didn’t have the pain.
My emotions are up and down. I have been very positive but just finished week three of the third cycle of palbociclib and my back has been sore the last five days which is worrying. Hoping it’s just a flare up or the cold weather but have bloods and review next Monday and Tuesday so will mention it and ask about my three months scan.
Try to stay positive and keep taking your painkillers!
Well at least they were honest about the reasons and how did you feel about that? I want all the treatment I can get! They told me it was because they wanted to get the radiotherapy ver before starting chemo. And apparently the dosage is different for bone mets than soft tissue? NOTHING makes sense in this surreal world so I just nodded....
I agree that living with pain is getting me down a lot. Having to crawl upstairs is humiliating but I keep telling myself that at least Ive found wats to keep moving and that it is bound to get better even if it gets worse first.
x Thea
Best of luck going forward. Hope we both start to feel better soon. Must say the pain flare came on much quicker than expected and rather took me by surprise.
Almost 1 week since single dose of radio and taking 4 doses of oxycodone (2ml) plus paracetamol for pain flare. Starting to feel really tired, actually falling asleep.. Anyone else had this and how long did it last? Pain isn't as intense but isn't going away yet.
