Has anyone had hairbreakage and thinning of hair on Ribociclib. I know this is a side effect of the drug.
If so does anyone use anything that helped.
I'm using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner.
My hair is very brittle and dry.
I have secondary breast cancer to my bones.
Thank you
I would give your oncology nurse a ring and ask her what is best to take. There is always somethink that will work. Heartburn is a very common sympton with any chemo medication, but with any massive pain and burning feeling in your stomach i would ring my oncology nurse or GP just to make sure its nothing else, i dont want to be negative but its always best to seek proffesional advice hope you feel better soon
My oncologist prescribed Omeprazole 20mg once a day to be taken in the morning as I had terrible indigestion & heartburn when I first started Ribociclib. It' settled down really quickly and not troubled me since so I wouldn't have thought he would have prescribed if there was any cause of concern taking both drugs together..x
Hi ansam
i haven’t had heartburn but yes on indigestion recently though in my case it might not be related says my oncologist. Anyway I was prescribed 4 weeks of omeprazole by gp and my oncology team was fine with this. It didn’t help me so my GP advices to stop using it while we try to find out what’s causing my indigestion.
I would suggest you talk to your oncologist or nurse specialist- they will want to know that you have isssues with heartburn. They will advise.
have you had issues before starting Ribociclib or only afterwards? Keep a diary if you can and note when you eat and drink and when you take Ribo to see if there are patterns. Not easy though. But an extra bit of knowledge will help.
I am about to start some prescribed laxatives to see if that helps me with indigestion. I have had a series of inconclusive tests.
hope you can find out why this is happening to you and what to do about it soon.
warmest wishes
I've been on it for years due to gastric issues from Lupus.
My team made no mention of interactions with Ribociclib which I started in March.
Hi Caroline,
Thanks for your reply and advice. I did had issues before the diagnosis, I was taking esomeprazole to avoid having gastritis caused by taking naproxen and it was helpful. I just spoke with the specialist nurse seems I could use esomeprazole but only for a short period and always at night so it doesn't interfere with the Ribo that I take in the morning. On Tuesday I have my appointment for Faslodex, so I'll ask her if it's better to switch to omeprazol.
I'm keeping a diary, it's a very good idea.
I hope the laxatives improve your indigestion!
Warmest wishes!
