I don't visit this site much at the moment because I found that I was getting sucked into the bad news stories and it was making me feel very low. Anyway, as an alternative, I thought I would start a thread for positive secondary BC stories as I'm pretty sure we would all welcome them! Please feel free to add your own so that we can build a library to remind us of positivity when we are feeling that our bodies are against us! Positive stories only please. My first one is below the emojis.
Hello again lovelife64. I have the trastuzumab and pertuzumab injection every three weeks. On the whole I feel well. A bit of nausea for no good reason. Sometimes lacking in energy but compared to docetaxel, nothing too awful. Prone to UTI s which knock me out psychologically as well as physically but that could just be an age thing. The injections are painless with no immediate side effect. . So absolutely manageable. Hope that’s how it will be for you.
Hi, I was not great after the 1st 2 rounds with diarrhoea, nausea and extremely fatigued and in bed for lots of the first week to 10days after the chemo so it was reduced by 20% for the following 3 which meant I felt better after 5/6 days. I suppose it depends on the dosage. Having just the injection every 3 weeks I am hoping the side effects subside as time goes on. Good to hear of other things that can help with the side effects thanks.
Yes but how many sessions of chemo did you do before starting just the injection please?
Marsie. I only had two rounds of chemo. I was so Ill ending up in hospital with c diff infection. oncologist stopped docetaxel. Been on the trastuzumab etc for a year now. No spread
Yes stage four. Secondary bone cancer. But living with it. Have you started treatment.
I did 5 rounds of Docetaxel and injections but just the injections for now, I should have had 6 but the oncologist was happy that the CT showed the spread was non detectable and the nodes affected in my auxiliary were reduced he is not concerned with my breast tumour at the moment.
Lovelife and Marsie. Isn’t it great we are all doing okay. . It’s not always easy to stay positive and hearing about your experience is a boost. I feel so fortunate to have very caring oncologist, chemo nursing team and Macmillan nurses.compared to horror stories in the media of no or poor treatment. Xxx
