Denosumab

I am one of the community champions on the breast cancer forums. I have secondary breast cancer but I don’t have experience of this drug. I also looked and the protocol seems to be every 4 weeks with the possibility of 6 weeks if this fits with other drug cycles. Maybe they intend to give you 2 cycles worth each time you pick up? Definitely worth querying, I think.

I only pick up my meds every 12 weeks and they give me the denosumab injections to take home with me so I can inject myself every 4 weeks. You just keep them in the fridge.

Hi Boswell716235 how long have you been on the denosumab?  I have been on it for 18 months and have it every 4 weeks.  I wonder if they change it after a timescale?  Another thing is that they have changed from the Xgeva (the live culture one) to a synthetic one as it is cheaper.  Apparently they are phasing out the more expensive one.  The synthetic one gives me headaches.

Only been on it 5 months!

I just want to have as much info as I can when I go in next week.  To be fair I don't know what's going to happen....j7st that last time I was there the nurse said I could have it every 8 weeks!

 At the beginning  I had injections at home once a month.  After having been on it for  quite a while ( as doing very well on my medications)  its every 3 months.   The NICE guidelines changed last year I think so internet not up to date...
