I have secondary metastatic breast cancer in my spine and sacrum, recently it was also found in my femur.

I recently had bone scan, nothing new showed up but doctor referred to hot spot in femur so wanted an mri whi I had around two weeks ago. I had my 3 monthly ct on tuesday today I have had a letter to attend for a pelvic ultrasound I have never had this before so my mind is going into over drive that the mri must have picked something up.  I don't have an appointment with oncologist for another week.

  • Any advice ??? Xx
  • Hi Lfc74

I am sorry to hear of your secondary breast cancer.

I had a pelvic ultrasound during my diagnosis of endometrial cancer. It can be a bit uncomfortable but is not painful. As a pelvic ultrasound has a closer look at the area between your hip bones it may well be that they are having a closer look at your sacrum area- as this is an area where the cancer has gone.

I know during my cancer journey my mind would often go into overdrive if something unexpected happened and also particularly around my check up times. It may well be that this is just a routine scan to have a closer look at the area where the cancer is. (sacrum) It sounds like your doctor is being thorough and that is a good thing.

It will probably feel like a long week, waiting to see your oncologist, so do please pick up the phone and give the Support Line a call if you want to talk things through.

    Good Luck

    Jane

  • Thank you for replying. I can deal with the things I know. It's the things I don't know about just send me spinning. A phone call to say we are sending you for this because would have to two minutes, yes I would be workout now I'm thinking worst case scenario constantly.
