I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and just had my results meeting. Good news is they removed the tumours with a good 4cm clear margin.....not so good is that 5 out of 14 nodes are cancerous (I was shocked as I hoped it was only 1 or 2).
Now I'm really worried, I go for a CT scan soon to see if it's spread anywhere else. Also they are going to do a gene test, and the consultant said if its positive I need to decide whether I have a double mastectomy and ovaries removed.
The nurse seemed to give the impression this was routine stuff ( as there are more than 4 abnormal lymph nodes).
I'm trying not to google, but I wondered if anyone else is going through a similar thing. I know they have to tell you all the possible sensarios, but I can't sleep. My mind is going overtime ( I have anxiety anyway,). I cant speak to anyone st the clinic, they are so busy, I feel I'm hampering them. The waiting room was so full today, ladies were stood waiting outside. So sad to see that.
Hi, I am in a slightly similar situation, unfortunately following a LICAP flap procedure 4 weeks ago I didn't clear margins and had 8 out of 13 lymph nodes that were cancerous. I have been told I will need a mastectomy now before having radiotherapy. I also had to have a CT scan last week, my last one was clear in March prior to having neoadjuvant chemo. The waiting for scan results is torture, trying to keep busy and not think the worst case scenario but not easy.
