Hi - I had biopsies on 22 April Results appointment was changed from 5 May to 12 May and then 19 May (because they had not received the results. I was then told I had DCIS, ER neg, PR weak pos, HER2 low and would need a mastectomy with no chemo or radiation after. Appointment for mastectomy on 24 June was cancelled and then carried out on 8 July. On 18 August I was told it had spread (between biopsy and surgery) but was all removed although it was in one of the four lymph nodes that were removed so I now have to have chemo then further surgery to remove rest of lymph nodes. I am now told the HER2 is not low but not much more information. I have seen the oncologist but still waiting for chemo appointment and told it will be end October.
Would it have spread without the delays? Will this further wait for chemo make things worse?
I was really positive to begin with but these delays and the bad news are making me worry.

Delays are always worrying and it’s also difficult when new information emerges that changes your treatment path. I don’t think it’s possible for anyone to answer the question of when it got into your lymph node. The good news is the mastectomy did remove it all for your breast and the chemo / targeted treatment will reduce your risk further.
