My wife has had to start TC treatment as her only option as she had treatment for Non Hodgkins Lymphoma last year.
She had the first treatment last Friday but has suffered terrible muscle and bone pains since Sunday last. She has hardly eaten and is quite poorly.
Looks like the docetaxel is the culprit although she has had the Pegfilgrastim afterwards which also causes this type of pain.
I know everybody is different but how long does these symptoms last.
Thanks
Hi ian16527
I am sorry your wife is having a hard time on docetaxol. She should have been given a 24 hour oncology hotline number. If her symptoms are continuing, I suggest she gives them a call. They are very good at supporting issues with chemo. You are correct that both the cancer and filgrastim can cause pain of this type. Assuming she is on a 3-weekly treatment cycle, things are usually more settled in the second half of the cycle.

I am a Macmillan volunteer.
I have metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer, in remission
My oncologist said it was the combination iof the two. Id certainly had filgastrim before without problems and the pains stopped when i reached the end of my 5 jabs each cycle. I took paracetamol over that period. I was on a two week cycle so it wasn’t much of a break. She said I wouldn’t have needed the filgastrim if we had chosen the weekly option and I could still change. As it happened I ended up with periphheral neuropathy anyway and I had the last taxol cancelled anyway
She wasnt given an option for cycle length, just 3 weekly She wont stand this regime I am afraid so we will see what they say on Wednesdays tel call
Thanks
Ask about the weekly - itsmilder but as effective. May not be right for everone, though.
