Joint pains

Hi I my cancer treatment began in 2019, and I have recently come off exemestane. I originally had letrozole but changed because of joint pain and weight gain. The exemestane was maybe marginally better. Since coming off the exemestane just over a year ago, I have been fine cancer-wise but will be honest and say my weight and joint pain have remained, minus about 1 stone with the help of Wegovy. Joint pain is complicated by osteoarthritis (funnily enough, much better during chemo but worse with the home-reducing pills). Oncologist gave the all clear to come of exemestane and I did so because of this and also because I was going to have a triple foot fusion. But as I say, joint pain continues worse than pre-cancer.  Things that have helped me and continue to do so 1. aqua exercise I am currently doing this 5 times a week and it is lovely to be able to exercise. I know you are a double amputee, but 2 people in my class have severe mobility problems; one is in a wheelchair and the other has severe upper body disability. They both do deep water aqua, which I have only recently joined and find very challenging. I find shallow water better but they only do the deep. I would suggest you ask for a referral to a physio and ask specifically for some hydrotherapy. I started with physio hydrotherapy, which was provided by the NHS. Hydrotherapy never gets automatically offered you do have to ask.Also, make sure you get calcD prescribed. Finally, Macmillan offers some therapies, I had osteopathy and acupuncture sessions both of which helped a little. 

I do feel for you, and I am sorry not to be able to give a more positive picture but the one main positive is that I seem to have beaten the cancer. I have also, in my aqua classes, met several cancer survivors .

Hi there, sorry to hear letrozole is giving you pains.  Sometimes different brands of the medication can give different side effects so that might be worth considering.  Best wishes
