I have had 4 rounds of EC and just had 1 round of Paclitaxel.
i was meant to have weekly Paclitaxel but there has been an issue with my ALT liver readings.
I understand that the normal range is >35.
prior to starting treatment my reading was 30. Since then it has gone 38, 130, 264, 512 and last week 600+.
i had my first (only) dose of Paclitaxel when it was 130 and haven’t had any further chemo since then as the readings continue to rise.
the consultant has stopped the Paclitaxel for now and I am due to have a scan on my liver in a weeks time.
The Consultant suggested reducing the dosage of Paclitaxel when we do resume but I wondered if there were alternatives.
Not sure how worried I should be to the damage being done to my liver
i am seeing the consultant tomorrow so hopefully will find out more but these readings are getting me really worried

I am sorry you are going through this. Hopefully the scan will get to the bottom of what is going on and the break in treatment allows your liver function to return towards normal. Your oncologist will know whether there are alternative treatments to offer - it may be they would need to find something processed wholly through the kidneys, for example.
