Hi there, I'm home recovering from a lumpectomy this past Monday (so, day 2!). Feeling a bit sorry for myself and wondering when I can restart my supplements. I spoke to the breast cancer nurse and she advised that I wait until my post op assessment (which is in another 3 weeks!). Prior to surgery I had a very mild sore throat and pains all over my body, including my back. Not sure if it's to do with the cancer or the stress of everything since diagnosis. The thing I noticed is that a supplement protocol recommended by a family member who's in the wellness world actually really helped. Has anyone else had better advice from their team about restarting multivitamin supplements post surgery, other than to wait for the post op appointment??
I was on:
Vitamin D3 - 8000iu
Zinc 25mg + copper 2mg
Vitamin K2 MK-7 200mcg
P5P vitamin B6 100mg
Iodine 800mcg (plus a few Brazil nuts a day to help with selenium which helps the body handle iodine)
Milk thistle (for general liver health) and a b vitamin complex
Plus ivermectin 36mg every other day - they recommended it and in the event it would have an effect on the tumour I thought if give it a try).
All this in addition to a healthy diet, practically no alcohol and very occasional sweets (chocolate etc).
Not sure which combination of the above helped, but I'm really keen to boost my immune system again. I've always been healthy, but would get tiny colds a lot and clear them quickly most of the time. Over the winter I did have a virus that stuck around on and off for 2 months. It could have been because I was in bereavement after losing my mum, it was a hard winter. But since then I can't shake the feeling that my body isn't up to its best and I feel like I should be doing everything possible to boost it, especially if I can't really exercise right now post op.
Thank you! Clearly feeling a bit powerless - what more can I do kind of vibe...
