Hi, I am new to the forum, as stayed off google and websites whilst I was going through the main part of diagnosis to stay calm.
I am 37 and have high grade DCIS in the left breast - 88mm so I knew from the start it would be a mastectomy. My surgeon will only do one side as in her view it’s double the risk when the other breast is healthy. I am happy to rely on her experience. Luckily lymph node has come back clear and my implant recon should happen same time as mastectomy. It won’t be nipple saving as she views it too risky and I wouldn’t want to risk it just to save the nipple if there was a chance of the cells remaining.
wondering others experience with this and how they coped leading up to the surgery and any complications pointers for recovery?
