Had my PICC line inserted on Thursday and had 1st treatment on Friday. Saturday the clip had opened & had to have the line flushed. No problems following this. However tonight in bed (Sun) I started with really bad pain in my neck. There is no swelling or redness. I really don't want to ring the 24 emergency line but was wondering if I should wait until the local hospital advice line is open and see if u need to go to the oncology unit to get it checked. I have taken paracetamol and sat upright in bed doesnt seem quite as severe as it was. Any advice? Is this normal when recently inserted and after 1st treatment. Thank you
Hi Magstar
I am sorry no one responded to you last night and hope you had as comfortable a night as possible. If you haven’t already contacted your helpline I would do so now.

Hi Coddfish,
I had pain in my picc line arm after my first treatment. It lasted around a week and I also felt puffiness around my shoulder and neck. This was after my first treatment. I think it was likely to be bone pain and then the neck was more muscular due to tensing up with the bone pain possibly.
I'm hoping it doesn't come back in the next cycle
