After chemotherapy i had a scan for something else and they found some 4mm lung nodules. I have just had the folloe up scan and waiting for the results. I am really worried. They said its likely to be benigh but i the uncertainty is hard. Ive gone through months of treatment and this is overshadowing it all. They said that nodules are common bur i am overthinking at the moment and cant settle . Does amyone have experience of this ? Looking for some reassurance i guess xxx
Hey, I have just finished radiotherapy for head and neck cancer, and I had a scan before radiotherapy started, and they noticed the same thing in my lung, the surgeon said its probably benign, he didn't look worried or bothered. But he said he'll get it tested anyway. I have only just got my results a week ago, and like yourself I was like yeah right it's going to be OK, there's no way with my luck and what's just happened to me. It's definitely going to be bad news.
Well, the results were clear, I had nothing to fear
What I would like to say to you is have complete faith and trust in the doctors around you, they are specialised in this field.
They very rarely in this day and age get things wrong. So put your trust in what they are telling you. If they had a tiny doubt in thier mind that they could be wrong there is no way they would of told you that it's likely to be benign.
That from my experience is a positive. Sounds to me they are quite confident in what they are telling you.
Also, your fears of cancer coming back is very normal to fear, and you will worry, but that will soon ease and you will worry less as time passes and as you recover.
Your head is l over the place at the moment with everything you have gone through, so it's understandable and expected for you to be worried.
Keep your head up, stay positive and keep going, what youve been through makes you a superstar! You got this.
Sending you much love,
Becky Xx
Aww thank you so much for giving such a thoughtful and kind reply. Its so helpful to hear from someone who totally understands . All the best with your recovery .xxxxx
Hi Moonshine10
I am feeling similar to you. I finished Chemo in Jan and I have wanted a scan since the beginning as I had a 4cm tumor grade 3 with 1 lymph node affected - they wouldn't do it initially but then after chemo said they would. They found a 7mm nodule on my lung too and something on my spine (this was from a CT scan) - they were a little worried so (delayed my RT sessions) and sent me for a PET CT - when the results came back they said it was not consistent with metastasis but would check again on another CT at the end of April - to ensure the nodule hasn't grown.
I am terrified too but I know for both of us that we have more chance of it being benign!! 4mm is small apparently and when you ask chat GPT is says the chance of a 4mm nodule being cancerous is 1% - that gives some reassurance.
I have wondered about the consequences of it being cancerous and I am hopeful that if found early we can live for a long time.
Please let me know how you get on - did you have 2 CT scans or a PET CT?
Thank you for your kind reply . It just overshadows finishing treatment . I think they dont take any chances which i guess is good..The oncologist said if i hadnt had breast cancer , nothing would be done. He didnt appear worried ...its just me. I am probably in a state of alert after the whole trauma. I have only had CT scans ....i just have to wait now. I will let you know how i get on . I am sure things like chemo probably cause these things. I am sure we will both be fine xxxx
