Hello,

I am contacting you to get some feedback on how to cope with Letrozole as I have now to take it for 5 years.

I am in my first month and have deleloped severe wrist pain, lower back pain, leg pain like I ran a marathon and I am feeling so tired. I do not know how I am going to keep it for 5 years. Before being diagnosed with breast cancer 8 months ago, I was on HRT so I guess my body fin it hard.

I have read post about changing different brands. I started with Sun brand and now was given Crescent brand. I was taking it in the morning and now I will try in the evening. I really feel that my body is broken and feel like 80 years old although I am 58 ! This pain is triggering high anxiety and I also started Sertraline 1/2 tablet 25 mg to start.

I welcome any feedback and advice on how to adjust to it. Doing exercices is one thing but so hard when in pain and no energy.

Thanks in advance

  • Hi I changed from letrozole to exemestane which made a small difference. I  stopped exemestane last August after 5 years when I had a triple  foot fusion operation. I haven't so far noticed any improvement in stiffness but that might be down to recovery from operation

Regarding exercise I can recommend Acqua aerobic/exercise.

    • Good luck x
  • Many thanks Rozalia. Having all these pains suddlenly is a shock to my brain and is so overwhelming!

  • Hi I’ve been on letrozole for 9 months and had stiffness and aches in my hips and legs for a couple of cycles. However now everything is so much better so I’m glad I stuck with it. I do find if I am stiff , moving about and exercise such as walking, yoga etc really help. Everyone is different but so far for me it’s been positive which is good as I’m meant to be on it for 10 years!

  • Hi

I was on Letrozole from June 2022 .I felt very stiff in the legs and went on Exemestane after 3 months and felt it was better regarding aching legs .I still have aches and pains but can expect that as I am 80.

    I still take it .

  • Thanks a lot. Do you think that changing brand/manufacterers of letrozole is good and did you stick with one brand ?
