Afternoon all. I start chemo on Thursday following a right side mastectomy, stage 3, in December and then in January pathology showed cancer cells found on lymph nodes. Oesrogenen positive HER negative. I will be having infusion every fortnight with injections to stimulate blood cells. 4 rounds on EC and then 4 rounds of Paclitaxel. Does anyone recommend any vitamins or supplements or should I avoid putting anything else into my system?!
Hi Sansa35c942
I had 3 cycles of EC and 12 of paclitaxel, plus the injections, and didn't take any vitamins or supplements.
It's very important that you discuss anything you're thinking of taking with your oncologist to check that they are okay to take. I understand that some supplements can interfere with the effectiveness of the chemo.
Wishing you all the best
Wishing you the best with your chemo. Read this article and it is interesting. About a drug used for preventing nausea during chemo snd the benefits it is showing for survival. Here is the link and a great read and certainly worth exploring. https://www.google.com/url?q=https://academic.oup.com/jnci/advance-article/doi/10.1093/jnci/djaf178/8196554&sa=U&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwi_qdHguOiSAxVnQjABHQU4JAMQFnoECEgQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1AxJNQUoJz0_7xVWBBcapE
Take care.
I wouldn’t take any supplements or vitamins unless oncologist recommended it. Many can interfere with chemo so better to be safe and let the chemo do its work.

Thanks for the advice, its much appreciated and makes sense. No idea how it's going to be so just last minute thoughts in case I've missed anything.
My oncologist said magnesium was good to use - but obviously check first . It seems to be eating really well and staying hydrated is the best thing you can do and ensuring you get plenty of good preins. Eating well really helped me to keep focused and fight against all that was happening
even when I didn’t always feel like it . Good luck with your treatment - you can do this !
