Hi, had my first chemo EC treatment yesterday. They gave me anti nausea and steroids. I felt fine till I got home and then got a terrible headache and nausea. Took more antisicknessbit still feel awful. Bit spooked as the hospital seemed to say days 3-7 are worst when steroids stop! Has anyone else felt ill immediately and suffered with headaches as well (it’s like a migraine). I did do the cold cap thing as well. Any thoughts welcome !
Hi there,
I'm sorry you're feeling so rough! I have had 3 EC and unfortunately I got acute nausea each time despite the anti sickness meds. I even got given stronger meds for my 3rd round but still threw up all night. I also cold capped and felt a little headachey the first night after chemo however I believe this was mostly the drug. With EC I found that gradually as the days passed the nausea reduced and I didn't notice a big difference coming off the steroids. I also decided to wash my hair very gently after chemo as I didn't like the clamped feeling of my hair stuck to my head.
I have since been on Docetaxel and still cold capping with coverage still all over my head, though I've gone super short. For me the sickness and headaches were mostly the chemo and I've not felt sick at all or headachey in the first 2 days after docetaxel. I find the symptoms kick in on day 3 /4 as its a different drug.
Good luck with your treatment. I hope you feel better soon.
Hi, how are you getting on now? I'm also on EC, now day 8 of my 2nd cycle. 2nd cycle dose was reduced to 80% because I didn't cope very well with the first cycle though I did recover well from day 9-14. Not sure what to do next time around as I'm still not coping well this time with the head fog, dizzines, fatigue and nausea xx
Hi, I am day 6 of first cycle..overall think my body has coped q well …main issue is constant headache and light sensitivity (and can’t sleep with the steroids). Headaches don’t seem to be a particularly common issue and that’s def been the biggest problem for me. Going to talk to team about painkillers..paracetamol not doing much. Sorry you are having a tough time. It’s such a big shock to the system. Fresh air is main thing that’s making me feel better. Hope you feel better soon x
How long have you been on steroids for? They only prescribed them for me on day 1 and 2, they're looking to increase this next time round to help with the nausea. I had a really bad headache for a couple.of days this time round but paracetamol did help. I normally suffer migraines which paracetamol does not help with. Glad youre managing mostly
