Hi All

Just diagnosed with MBC ER+, HER-. First Denosumab injection on Monday. Letrozole starts tonight. Am 73 so well past menopause. Am I going to feel lousy? Have 1 session of radio to sacrum and Palbociclib to look forward to. I just don’t know how to plan my life with socialising and grandchildren. Any advice would be very welcome

  • Hi   my cancer is different to yours, I have a sarcoma, but my treatment mirrors breast cancer treatment. I started on letrozole but changed to anastrozole after 12 months. I have been on denosumab for 5 years. The first injection did make me feel lousy for a few days, it was very much like flu symptoms, my bones hurt. But since then I haven’t had any real side effects from it. You have to have a dentist check up before every injection as any dental work needs to take place before the next injection.

  • Hi Timotea I have same cancer as you.  I have been on exemastane, ribociclib and denosumab injections since December.  I can't say I have had any side effects from the denosumab and live my life just the same as before.  I also had one session of radiotherapy for one of the tumors on my spine for the pain.  It was very painful afterwards for a while but now is okay.  So I would say try and keep to your normal routine as much as possible.  It helps me to feel more in control.  Good luck.

  • Thank you so much Lee. It so reassuring to hear from someone who has gone through it. The fear of the unknown is the worst thing.
