Hi all,

I just wondered if anyone had had any success or experience with using testosterone after diagnosis and treatment?

These no real answers online.

Thanks x

  • Hello,  I have not used it personally as have ER and PR positive BC and on aromatase inhibitors.  The issue with testosterone is it converts to estrogen so not for me.
Before my diagnosis I used estradiol and testosterone pellets and felt wonderful.

Know that here in US you can get testosterone and Anastrazole pellet in one and some use it and data looks promising but need large trials.  Not FDA approved though.  I have an GYN Dr who talked to me about it as she did my pellets before my BC but I talked to my medical oncologist and he was hesitant as he said he did not know how much of the testosterone would aromatase into estrogen so the answer was a no for me.

    Take care

  • Thank you for your response.

I felt great on testosterone and estrogen before diagnosis too.

I was more gutted about giving up my HRT than anything else, so even if there a small slither of a chance of getting some quality of life back, I'd take it.

  • Oh I know what you mean about no more HRT.  I had just had my pellets in August, diagnosed in September so felt good for a few months.  But the stress used up those hormones faster.  Now on aromatase inhibitors so estrogen almost none so ugh. I was in Anastrazole for just over 3 years but my issues with side effects got to me so medical oncologist changed me to letrozole so now on that.  Will see how that goes.  I am determined to get in my 5 years on AI’s and then celebrate when I get done.
