Hi - I am currently bouncing off the walls. I was told two weeks ago that I had breast cancer by my consultant and that the biopsy results would take 7-10 days but would ‘ just confirm what we know already’.

I went for my results yesterday to be told that they have come back benign but the consultant doesn’t believe the result so they are intending to do another set of biopsies.

I just don’t know where my heads at !! I’ve talked to so many people and my situation is apparently rare. I feel like I should be relieved as I’m in the “ I don’t know “ category now when before it was definate cancer but it almost seems harder as I’m back in the waiting room. Another 3 weeks wait. They did say the waiting is the hardest part.

  • Crikey I feel for you. What a terrible situation, I can’t say I have heard of this scenario, your nerves must be in shreds. The second time I had BC, I was also told by the consultant and radiologist that it was cancer at my first appointment and that the biopsies would confirm what type, I can’t imagine the shock and confusion at having what you’ve experienced.

The first time I had breast cancer, I had an opposite experience. I was told I didn’t have breast cancer but they thought I had HPV in the breast so they’d take my milk ducts anyway as a belt and braces option. After the op they came and told me there had been a lump behind my nipple that wasn’t visible on the mammogram!! So I had to have a second op to achieve batter margins and then radiotherapy. I hope they remove your lump regardless to make 100% sure. All I can say is that sometimes they get it wrong, as traumatic as that is. Please let us know how you get on, either way you need support from people who can identify with how you feel. All the best of luck to you x
