Hi all,
On Friday I went for mammogram and ultrasound and biopsies. They told me they were pretty certain I have cancer in the right breast. Now I have to wait 2 weeks to get biopsy results and meet up with consultant to discuss next steps and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice/ wise words to manage the wait! I think it's the feeling that it could be a death sentence, or totally treatable or something between the two that I'm finding hard to manage. Thanks in advance.
Hi Lennierob72
Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum. I'm sorry to hear that you are waiting on a breast cancer diagnosis. Breast cancer is very treatable and they keep coming up with new treatments all the time. While you are waiting for your results keep yourself busy doing the things you love to do. Don't google breast cancer as the information on google is out of date, rely on sites like this one and Breast Cancer Now for your information.
I've had Breast Cancer twice and after having treatment I am now cancer free and have been for just over two years now.
Wishing you the best of luck with your results and with whatever comes next for you.
Best wishes
Daisy53
Thank you so much. This is exactly the kind of reply that I didn't know I needed! Helpful wisdom. Thank you.
Hi, I am now in the same position you were in 19 days ago. I hope your news was positive and you have a plan going forward. I am on day 3 of finding out I have breast cancer and may need to wait 7-10 days for mdt and results appt. I think it’s the not knowing that I’m finding hard, I don’t know what my fight looks like yet and I’m impatient to get going. Best wishes to you x
Hi,
Bless you! The waiting is so hard and I think managing that will be one of my biggest battles going forward. I think dealing with just the day I'm on is helpful. The actual appointment day was OK- I think I was just relieved to.get some news and move forward. They have told me it's treatable, which I'm focusing on and the next step is mri (to ascertain size and location for surgery options) then surgery, then radiotherapy so I'm focusing at the moment on getting myself as strong and fit as I can before the surgery, and doing fun things whilst I'm feeling well! I don't know whether any of that is any help at all. I hope you are managing ok and it's also nice to feel that I might be able to be there for others, even in a small way like this!
Thankyou so much for replying. You have helped even though it’s because you’re going through the same thing. I’m pleased that it’s treatable and like you I want to do as much as possible to help my body recover and fight. Although I currently also want to eat the contents of my fridge right now . I’m an emotional eater. I’ll keep an eye out on your journey and if you ever need anything. I’ll be here xx
Thank you. Same for me. Do.let me know how you're getting on if you want to.
