Looking to get any help from anyone taking Enhertu.

Originally diagnosed with ER + and HER2+ , caught early no nodes involved Dec 21.  Had 20 cycles of Herceptin  after spread to Plura and skin of original breast in Jan 23.  Was all good but now stopped working and cancer is back on breast skin and in my lung.

I'm starting Ehertu in next couple of weeks and have been told will be on it as long as its working. Which is daunting to think about.

I didn't do well on chemo after 1st spread, only managed 2 cycles, so really worried how I will cope. At the moment my thoughts are, will try it but if side effects are to much will just have to let things take there course. I'm 73 next month and have already lost my husband and 2 sons to cancer since 2022.

  • I’m hoping I can offer some reassurance, I was first diagnosed with Lobular BC in November 2021, I had a year of various different treatments, Docetaxel (which knocked me for 6 for 4 days every 3 weeks) Bilateral mastectomy, Radiotherapy, Immunotherapy and targeted therapy, I was due to start 3 years of Zometa every 6 months before finding the cancer had spread to my lungs and brain lining.

I was put onto Enhertu in April 2023 and like you was told I be on it as long as it continued working and/or my body could tolerate it, Enhertu is the 1st of 3 lines of treatment available at the moment.

I count my blessings every day, I really don’t suffer any side effects at all, possibly a little more tired as time goes on but certainly not enough to impact on my life. I live a very full and busy live for which I’m so grateful to be able to do, I have CT’s every 3 months, more recently MRI,s due to an extended dizzy spell with vomiting and some cyst’s on the pancreas (specifically IPMN’s) waiting to discuss results with oncologist.

it is such a daunting thought and I really do wish you so much luck with your treatment and hope you are as blessed as I feel.

sending big hugs to you x
